📁 Digital vs Scanned PDFs

Digital PDFs (exported from Word, Tally, Excel) have vector text and are extremely small (often < 200 KB for 100 pages). Compressing them is unnecessary. Scanned PDFs containing photo images represent 98% of size issues.

⚖️ Portal Resolution Standard

To satisfy the GST and IT portal file restrictions without producing blurry invoices:
150 DPI Grayscale/B&W: Recommended scan setting. Average size is 150 KB per page. Crisp text, small file.
300 DPI Color: High quality, but averages 1.5 MB per page. A 10-page document will exceed portal limit!

⚡ Why "Splitting" beats "Compressing"

Aggressive web compressors downsample images to extremely low quality. This renders figures, ledger columns, and small tax values unreadable, which frequently causes reviewing officers to reject submissions.
Best Practice: Keep full resolution and split the document into sequentially numbered chunks (e.g. Part 1, Part 2). The GST portal supports attaching multiple supporting PDFs.

🚫 Avoid Portal Special Characters

Government portal servers often reject files containing special characters in their name. Clean names should only use letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens, and underscores.
